Double Magnum Producers of Barbaresco, Barbaresco 1988

1894 was a pivotal year in the history of Barbaresco. Until then, the Nebbiolo grown in this area was used to make Barolo or was vinified simply as a table wine.

In that same year, Domizio Cavazza, dean of the Royal School of Enology of Alba and owner of the Barbaresco Castle and its adjoining farm, founded the "Cantine Sociali di Barbaresco" (Barbaresco Social Wineries), with the aim of launching the production of fine wines capable of fully exploiting the potential of the territory.
