The history of the Cappellano winery begins with my great-great-grandfather, notary Filippo Cappellano, a wealthy landowner driven by a great passion for wine. At 48, he founded the company, bringing together 150 Piedmontese "giornate" (approximately 60 hectares) of arable land. Upon his death, his son Giovanni, an oenologist, continued his work: he renovated the winery and opened two hotels in Alba and Serralunga, equipped with the best amenities to accommodate Ligurian-Piedmontese tourists. In Serralunga, he also introduced the famous "grape cure," establishing a carriage service to the Alba train station.
