The history of this hill begins with another name: Monte della Guardia. It was owned by Juliette Colbert, the last Marchioness of Barolo, who welcomed Silvio Pellico after his Austrian imprisonment, established numerous charitable organizations throughout Piedmont, and dedicated part of her Palazzo Barolo in Turin to a nursery for workers' children. Last but not least, it was thanks to her that Barolo was born as we know it today.

The Marchioness Juliette left the hill to Giuseppe Boschis, who worked the vineyards there, and since then the hill has been known as Bricco Boschis.
