When we talk about Romanée-Conti , we enter the elite of world wine. In the heart of Burgundy, a land capable of inspiring connoisseurs of great reds, the story of a legendary winery takes shape. It all began in 1451, when the monks of the St. Vivant convent sold a small plot of vineyard to the Croonembourg family, corresponding to today's Cros de Clou, today among the estate's most prized crus. Over the following centuries, various families alternated at the helm, until 1760, when the Princes of Conti purchased the property and renamed it La Romanée . From the 18th century, first with the Duvault-Blochet family and then with their successors Leroy/Roch and de Villaine, the vineyard acquisitions gradually expanded, including all the most prestigious grand crus, including La Romanée-Conti and La Tâche , true "monopoles."
